“The angels came and took me away, don’t cry for me, smile, one day I will unite again with you”
On April 30, 1949 in Lincoln County, GA, a bouncing baby girl was born to the union of Roy Lee Zellars and Lessie Maude Freeman named Patsy Lee Zellars. On June 16, 2024, at Piedmont Hospital in Augusta, GA, Patsy Lee Zellars Tanksley answered her call to eternity.
At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and united with the Prices Grove Baptist Church and later joined the First Baptist Church in Lincolnton, GA. Patsy labored faithfully doing home health care work. She helped raised her siblings due to her mom’s untimely death. Patsy had a joyful and outgoing personality and was a pleasure to all that knew her. She laughed, danced, cried, and cooked with lots of love feeding everyone she came in contact with. Most of all she enjoyed life to it’s fullest.
Preceding her in death were, her husband, Franklin “Gene” Tanksley, her grandchildren, Tavarious Hamrick and Mawanua Ware, her parents, Roy Lee Zellars and Lessie Maude Freeman Huff, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd (Annie Kate) Freeman, Sr., her siblings, Peggy Felts and Lessie Ivey, Frank Zellars, Floyd Zellars, Sr., Ralph Zellars and Robert Sonny Zellars.
She leaves to cherish many precious memories, a devoted daughter, Vanessa Zellars of Lincolnton, GA; two sons, Larry (Sylvia) Zellars of Anderson, SC, and Bruce Zellars of Lincolnton, GA; a godson, Nicki Norman; a devoted sister, Gloria Jones of Lincolnton, GA; two brothers, Jessie “Bro” (Tyronica) Zellars and George “Randy” Zellars both of Lincolnton, GA; three half sisters, Lillie Zellars of Lincolnton, GA, Angie Zellars and Kisher Davis both of Washington, GA; two half brothers, Robert Zellars of Lincolnton, GA and Jessie (Sharon) Huff of Washington, GA; three aunts, Evelyn Mims of McCormick, SC, Nanleen Freeman of Lincolnton, GA and Ruth Freeman of Grand Island, NY; an uncle, Franklin (Christine) Freeman of Lincolnton, GA; additional sisters-in-law, Sallie Zellars of Midway, FL, Ernestine Zellars of Lincolnton, GA, Daisey Mae Tanksley of Appling, GA and Fannie Overton of Augusta, GA; a special grandson, Demarco Watts, and 8 other grandchildren; a special great grandson, JaMarcus “Duke” Norman and 11 other great grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn her passing.
