Mrs. Betty Jo Blackmon

Lincolnton, GA

Mrs. Betty Jo Blackmon, a beloved homemaker who found joy in spending quality time with her family, passed away at her residence in Lincolnton, GA. Born in the same town on December 1st, 1929, to the late Ethan (Hattie Winnfield) Appling. She was the seventh child out of eight in that union. She was a kind-hearted soul known for her love of cooking, listening to gospel music, and attending church services.
 
 She accepted Christ as her personal savior and united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age. She was educated in Harmony Church schools. Mrs. Blackmon dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home for her family. Her legacy of love and devotion will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
 

She was preceded in death by her husband West Blackmon, her son, Harvey Lee Freeman, her parents, and her siblings, Willie Appling, LM Appling, Harvey Appling, Mattie Kate Warren, Pearl Appling, and Gladys Hogan.


 Mrs. Betty Jo Blackmon is survived by her daughter, Linda (James) Smith of Lincolnton, GA; three sons Bobby (Debra) Freeman, Paul Darrell Gladmon, and Daniel Gladmon all of Lincolnton, GA; four bonus daughters, Mary Andrews, Idell Andrews, Glenda Blackmon, and Emma Ruth Dooley all of Lincolnton, GA; a sister Gennett Jones of New Jersey; as well as 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life, two dedicated caregivers Judy Hawes and Shunda Moon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
 
 In the quiet moments when we miss her most, let us remember Mrs. Blackmon's infectious smile and unwavering love that will continue to live on in our hearts.
 
Rest in peace, dear Mrs. Betty Jo Blackmon.
