In loving memory of Rasie “Ray” Cunningham, a cherished soul who graced this world with his presence on September 21, 1937, to the union of the late Mr. and Mrs. John B. (Lizzie Maude Norman) Cunningham. He departed to his heavenly home on June 25, 2024, at Hulin Personal Care Home in Washington, GA surrounded by his loving family. He was a beacon of light to all who knew him and his legacy will forever echo in the hearts of those he touched.
Ray devoted over 30 plus years of his life to E.R. Snelling Construction before retiring, leaving behind a remarkable imprint in the industry. Educated in the Lincoln County School System, he honed his skills and embraced lifelong learning. At an early age, Ray accepted Christ as his Savior and joined Trinity Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a member of the Deacon Board.
His sociable personality radiated warmth and compassion, especially towards his family and friends whom he held dear. Deacon Cunningham's love for people was evident in every interaction, making him a pillar of support and kindness.
A man of varied interests, Deacon Cunningham found solace in hunting, fishing, and actively participating in church activities. His deep-rooted faith resonated in all aspects of his life, guiding him through tranquil waters and turbulent storms alike.
Deacon Cunningham graced this world with unwavering love and care for those around him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby Walton Cunningham, children Angela Cunningham and William Cunningham, as well as siblings Betty Johnson, Disie Starks, Roy Clarence Cunningham, John Cunningham, and Ella Banks.
He is survived by his loving children, Lafayette Cunningham, Fabenne (Donald) Myers, and Shelia (Bruce) McNeil all of Baltimore, MD, Sonja (Madina) Morton of Hephzibah, GA, Sharon (Marlon) Jones of Augusta, GA; two sisters, Mary Hulin of Tignall, GA and Patricia Wynn of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Charles (Janice) Bradley of Tignall, GA; a devoted neighbor Larry Mahoney; a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.
As we bid farewell to Deacon Rasie “Ray” Cunningham in earthly form, let us embrace the memories cherished and lessons learned from this noble soul. His spirit will forever soar among us as we carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. Rest peacefully in eternal glory until we meet again.
