Lester Thomas, born on October 27, 1950, in Lincolnton, Georgia, to the parentage of Lloyd and Mamie Thomas, passed away on October 19, 2024, at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. A dedicated family man and cherished friend, Lester leaves behind a legacy of love that will be profoundly felt by all who knew him.
Lester’s educational journey took him through the Lincoln County Public School system, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of hard work and accomplishment. After completing his schooling, he embarked on a career as a Fort Lift Driver, working for several major companies, demonstrating not only his skills but also his commitment to providing for his family.
Lester was a man of deep faith, having accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He united with Pleasant Grove CME Church, where his faith guided him through many aspects of his life. His devotion to his beliefs was matched only by his love for his family and friends.
Lester enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including socializing, hunting, and fishing. These passions were not only a source of joy for him but also created many memorable moments with his loved ones. Whether it was sharing tales from the outdoors or gathering with family and friends, Lester cherished the connections he built throughout his life.
He is survived by his three daughters, Shikela Tenny of College Park, GA, Teresa N. (Rodriquez)Tucker of Lincolnton, GA, and Ebonee Thomas of Greenwood, SC, who carry forward his spirit and teachings. Lester also leaves behind four sisters, Minnie (John) Parks of Lincolnton, GA, Viola Lewis of Appling, GA, Mae Etta Thomas of Albany, GA, and Mary Thomas of Austell, GA, as well as sister-in-law Ola Murray and brother-in-law Robert Holt. His legacy continues with ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom will remember him fondly. Additionally, he is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, each of whom were touched by his kindness and warmth.
Lester was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lloyd and Mamie Thomas, and his siblings: George O. Tutt, Isiah Murray, Sr., Willie Elam, Nathan Thomas, Clara Holt, Lillie D. Davis, and Lizzie Bennett. These cherished relationships shaped him into the man he was, and their memories will reside in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
As we reflect on the life of Lester Thomas, we remember a man who was committed to his family, dedicated to his work, and devoted to his faith. His legacy of love and the moments shared with him will forever hold a place in the lives of many.
