Mr. Walter James Keen, Sr. was born to the late Willie Lee Keen, Sr. and Bernice Watkins Keen on February 17, 1960. Walter James Keen, Sr., a cherished husband, father, and friend, ascended to the heavens on October 2, 2024, at Piedmont-Atlanta Hospital.
Walter attended Houston County School District in Perry, GA. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at a young age. His spiritual journey was a source of strength throughout his life, shaping the man he became. Walter celebrated the joyous occasion of marrying the love of his life, Tinna Beard, though their partnership spanned over 24 years. Together they built a life rich in love, filled with family gathering and cherished memories.
He dedicated over 29 years of his career to Pilgrim Pride in Elberton, GA, where he served diligently as a wastewater technician. Keen was a proud provider who found joy in caring for his family and extending his kindness to others. He was known as the grill master. He loved to race and enjoyed sports especially the Falcons. He was fondly known as a person of laughter and joy.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Willie Lee Keen Sr. and Bernice Watkins Keen, as well as his grandchild, Shateria Watkins, and siblings, Eddie M. Keen, Sr., and Debra L. Keen. Walter will be missed beyond measure. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Tinna Keen, four children, Drevion Beard, Travion Beard, Walter. J. Keen, Jr. all of the home, and Shuwanda Laf’dosta Brown of Perry, GA; two grandchildren, Ameria Brown and Marcus Brown; two God-children, Tamya Anderson and Kelland Sherman; a sister, Mary (Marvin) Jefferson of Sylvester, GA; four brothers, Willie Lee Keen, Jr., Ruben Keen, Sr. both of Perry, GA, Cleve L. (Lesia) Keen of Warner Robins, GA and Christopher (Necoal) Jones of Hawkinsville, GA; a loving mother-in-law, Dolly M. Beard of Lincolnton, GA; three sisters-in-law, Tameka (Tryson) Cullars, Hope Beard both of Lincolnton, GA, Lesia Booker of Washington, GA; two brothers-in-law, Marquis Parks of Lincolnton, GA and Larry Booker of Washington, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
