Mr. Fred Bolton was born on February 7, 1936, in Rayle, GA to the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Mamie Favors) Bolton. He was the youngest of 25 children, a treasured blessing to his parents and siblings. Fred, a beloved member of the community known for his warm spirit, timeless wisdom, and endless stories, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Piedmont Summerville Hospital in Augusta, GA at the age of 88.
Fred accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and united with Lyonsville Baptist Church in Rayle, GA.
Fred was a man who truly embraced life. Whether sharing advice, offering a listening ear, or telling a story that left everyone smiling, his presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew him.
Fred dedicated over 40 years to the logging industry as a skilled truck driver for Reed Trucking, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues through his hard work and determination. However, his true passion was his work at Wright & Jones Funeral Home, where he served faithfully for over 55 years. Wright & Jones was not just a workplace for Fred; it was his first love and his calling. Through his service, he touched countless lives with his compassion, kindness, and unwavering commitment to helping others during their most difficult times.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Dell Bolton, son, Scottie King, and granddaughters, Kimberly Rochelle Jones, and Ebony Cullars.
Fred’s legacy is one of service, humility, and the simple joy of living life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him. He is survived by his three loving daughters, Ernestine Davis, Bertha (Terry) Cullars, Melba Jean Leverett all of Lincolnton, GA, a son Apostle Bruce Bernard (Alfreda) King of Greenwood, SC; a grandson raised in the home as a son, Shawn (Cortney) Davis of Lincolnton, GA; a sister Nancy B. Hawes of Lincolnton, GA; a goddaughter, Sarah Rouse of Lincolnton, GA and 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues who cherished his presence.
Rest easy, Fred. Your stories, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of many.
