Deacon Edwin Jim Rhodes

Edwin Jim Rhodes was born in Crawfordville, Georgia on Wednesday, November 5, 1930,

 to the late Luther and Murt L. Rhodes.

He received his education in the Crawfordville school system.

Jim Rhodes accepted Christ at a young age, he joined the Greater Level Hill Baptist Church and sang in the choir as well as served on the Deacon Board.

In 1951 in Chattanooga, TN he married Willie Mae Rhodes, the love of his life who preceded him in death, to this union there were ten children born.

Later he moved to Detroit, MI, and joined Leland Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of his brother the late Rev. Eugene Rhodes, joining the choir and resuming his position as a deacon.

On July 4th, 1981, Edwin married Iomia Kaigler. They were blessed to be together for 43 years.

He worked as a Skilled Tradesman at Diamond Screw Manufacturing Company and retired after forty-five years of dedicated service.

Edwin was a family man who loved everything about Georgia. He loved family gatherings and cookouts, and he was an outdoorsman. He was a caretaker for the family property for many years. Out of love and pride for his family, Jum was the biggest crier you would ever meet.

On Friday, August 23, 202, surrounded by family, Edwin answered the call and went home to be with the Lord.

Those who preceded him in death were his mother and father, Luther Rhodes and Murt Rhodes, and his children, Edwin Rhodes, Edward Charles, and Willie D. Hill. His siblings: Thomas Rhodes, Rev. Eugene Rhodes, Gary Rhodes, Terrel Rhodes, Pauline Rhodes, Dorothy Rhodes, Rosetta, Hattie, Clara, Sirlene, Louise, Murtie, and Gerrett.

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife Iomia Rhodes along with his children, Robert (Andrea) Rhodes, Martha Broadus, Rosie Terrel, Jim Broadus, Otis (Robbie) Rhodes, and Eddie Rhodes. His devoted brothers and sisters: Evellyne (Willie) Kendrick, Gladyes Little, and Luther Rhodes, two brothers-in-law, Otis Kaigler and Billie Harris, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
