Bobbie Jean Barksdale

Bobbie Jean Barksdale, 77, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2023, at the McCormick Post Acute in McCormick, SC. Bobbie was born on February 4, 1946, in Lincolnton, GA, to Nathan Bussey and Dorothy Hamp Bussey. Bobbie accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and united with the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lincolnton, GA.

Throughout her life, Bobbie was known for being a loving and friendly person who loved having conversations with her family and friends. She spent countless hours on the phone with loved ones and relished getting together with old friends in town. Her family was of utmost importance to her, and she devoted her time to caring for her father.

Bobbie spent her career working in several different industries. She worked at Twilight Sewing Factory and then continued to work for Lincoln County Board of Education. Her final place of employment was Soap Creek Marina.

She attended schools in Lincoln County before beginning her career path. Bobbie's hobbies included spending time communicating with family and friends as well as visiting with them when she would go to town.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Hamp Bussey as well as her husband Thomas Lee Barksdale, and daughter Sandra Wright Jackson.

Bobbie Jean Barksdale is survived by a daughter Brenda Morgan of Lincolnton, GA; two sons Charles Barksdale of Carnesville, GA, and Nelson (Coretta) Barksdale of Washington, GA; father Nathan Bussey of Lincolnton, GA; sister Mary Lou Harris of Lexington, NC; four brothers Wayne (Betty) Bussey, Joe Nathan Bussey both of Lexington NC; Barney (Beverly) Bussey of Cincinnati OH and Robert (Rachel) Hearst of Lincolnton GA; son-in-law Wayne Morgan of McCormick SC; two sisters-in-law Evelyn (Mitchell) Strong of Elberton GA and Mildred Johnson Walker of Atlanta GA; brother-in-law Henry Johnson of California; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, three special nieces, Ann Booker, Bertha Lee Booker, and Mary Linda Booker all of Lincolnton, GA; special friends, Maria Kato of Savannah, GA, Ernestine Zellars, Hattie B. Murray, Lillie Bell Tutt, Mozell Jones, Janet Wynn, and Gyp Hearst all of Lincolnton, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on June 9, 2023 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church at 1157 Ebenezer Church Road in Lincolnton, GA.

Bobbie's kind and gregarious nature will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. She made an impact on every life that she touched and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
